Creative Writing with Colin

The creative writing process is fun and imaginative, yet it is also complex and systematic. Learning to successfully write creatively goes far beyond simply having a good imagination.

Throughout the 2023 and 2024 school year we will be offering blocks of creative writing courses each with their own specific focus and objectives. Together, the courses combine to make a thorough and complete curriculum (including a great preparation for the 11+ entrance exam).

Each course is run separately and students can choose between all, some or just a single course. Participation in previous courses is not required as each session has its own specific objectives and activities.

Course 1:  An Intro to Creative Writing Skills                       7 classes between Sept 4 - Oct 20

Course 2:  Literary Devices + Dialogue                                7 classes between Oct 30 - Dec 15

Course 3:  Extended Character Development                      6 classes between Jan 8 - Feb 16

Course 4:  Adding Curiosity, Suspense and Tension            5 classes between Feb 26 - March 29

Course 5:  Test Success.  11+ and following guidelines       6 classes between April 15 - May 24

Course 6:  Writing your Novella                                           7 classes between June 3 and July 19
